Outlook Minimized Issue

Symptoms:
11.  Outlook will open minimized.  Right clicking on the open Outlook icon and choosing Maximize works, however you can’t minimize or customize the window size.  It minimizes off screen
22.  The “Hide When Minimized” option is not checked
33. Using right-click & choosing “Move” or “Size” does not work to restore the window back to a viewable size.  Also running Repair on Microsoft Office or Microsoft Outlook does not correct the issue.

This is a known issue with Outlook where the window gets minimized to an un-viewable size and the only way to correct the issue is to delete the Registry key that keeps the previous frame size in memory.  To correct, close out of Outlook and delete the registry key below:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Office Explorer]
Delete the key that has 'Frame'=……

When you restart Outlook the issue should be resolved.

Active Directory Partitions

In simple words a directory partition is the space where the AD information is segregated and logically stored.

There are three native partitions Schema/Configuration/Domain and additionally there is also the Application partition.

1. Schema information contains - definition details about objects and attributes that one CAN store in the AD. Replicates to all domain controllers. Static in nature.
2. Configuration information contains - configuration data about forest and trees. Replicates to all domain controllers. Static as your forest is.
 3. Domain information contains - object information for a domain. Replicates to all domain controllers within a domain. The object portion becomes part of Global Catalog.
 4. Application Partition contains - information about applications in Active Directory. E.g. when AD integrated DNS is used there are two application partitions for DNS zones – ForestDNSZones and DomainDNSZones.

Look here for details - http://www.tech-faq.com/directory-partitions.html

You can only configure the Application partition manually to use with AD integrated applications. Refer to this article for details- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884116

For more info: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833#CBS log

How to analyze the CBS.log file

How to analyze the log file that the SFC.exe program generates

1. Run cmd prompt as an Administrator.

2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
   findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"
