Install Microsoft Security Essentials on Windows 8.1 and Server 2012

    1.  Download Microsoft Security Essentials on your PC.
    2.  Right Click on MSEInstall (application package).
    3.  Click on Properties.



    4.  Click on Compatibility tab.



    5.  Under Compatibility mode, check Run this program in compatibility mode for:
    6.  Select Windows 7 from the drop down and click on Apply.



    7.  Open Command Prompt as an Administrator.

    8.  Navigate to the folder containing MSEInstall (application package).
    9.  Run the command mseinstall /disableoslimit and follow the instructions to install the MSE on your machine.

Disable Kaspersky through management console

1. Open Kaspersky management console.
2. Move to Settings tab.
3. Open Advanced Settings.
4. Uncheck 'Disable external management of the system service' option.
5. Goto run and open 'Services.msc'.
6. Stop the service 'Kaspersky Endpoint security Service' in order to disable Kaspersky.

Kaspersky: How to enable/disable Self-Defense on local host

In most cases, when establishing a connection using remote control applications, you will not be able to access the graphic user interface (GUI) of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows. The GUI does not react to mouse pointer events.

How to enable/disable Self-Defense on local host 

By default, Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows Self-Defense mechanism is enabled. But you can always disable it if necessary. 

In order to enable/disable the Self-defense mechanism: 

  1. Open application settings.  
  2. Select Advanced Settings section in left frame.  
  3. (Un)check the box Enable Self-Defense 
  4. Click Save to keep the changes.
